BEIJING: China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday that although there has been some progress since Presidents Joe Biden and Xi Jinping met in November, the US is still holding onto false impressions about China and has not yet kept its "promises."
Wang stated that mutual respect and acknowledgement of differences are prerequisites for the continuation of bilateral relations between the two nations during a press conference held in conjunction with the Beijing annual parliament meeting.
Wang stated at the National People's Congress, "It has to be pointed out that the US side's erroneous perception of China continues, and the promises it has made have not really been fulfilled."
He claimed that "the list of unilateral sanctions is constantly being extended, and the methods of suppressing China are constantly being renewed."
Wang claimed that the "crimes" the US want to include on the list of purportedly committed crimes by China "have reached an unbelievable level."
However, Wang stated that Biden had made it plain that the US will not support Taiwan's independence, seek to alter the Chinese system, or initiate a new Cold War.
