Australia will contribute to pensions for employees receiving paid parental leave.

Sydney: In a move that represents the left-leaning Labour government's most recent endeavour, Australia announced on Thursday that it will contribute to pensions for employees who take paid maternity leave.

In addition to government-funded maternity leave, the government will also pay 12 percent of an employee's income into their superannuation pension fund.
